About research line

Within the eHealth and Movement Behavior research line, associate professor Daniël Bossen focuses on successful (online) strategies to coach and support healthy movement in people with limited physical ability due to illness. He develops, evaluates and applies knowledge based on practical questions from movement professionals, such as exercise, occupational and physiotherapists, and dietitians.

Why eHealth?

  • Online monitoring enables personalised support.
  • Because it’s available 24/7, it can extend and intensify treatments.
  • Interactive tools and behaviour change techniques help boost motivation to move.
  • It supports the Health & Care Knowledge and Innovation Agenda, which aims to deliver 50% more care in people’s own environments by 2030.

Goals

  • Develop and evaluate eHealth interventions for healthy movement (using both quantitative and qualitative methods).
  • Support professionals in using eHealth to encourage more physical activity.

Working together across professions

Working across professional boundaries is a key part of this research line. The associate professor collaborates closely with other AUAS research groups, including Nutrition and Exercise, Occupational Therapy – Participation and Environment, Digital Life, Interdisciplinary Care for Chronic Joint Conditions and the Innovation of Movement Care research group (HU). Students from allied health programmes learn how to use technology and movement strategies in the home situations of their clients.
