About Bart Visser
Bart Visser is trained as a movement scientist and worked for years in various roles at the Faculty of Behavioral and Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). In 2010, he made the transition to the AUAS, taking on the role of programme manager and professor in Functional Exercise Therapy. Under his leadership, extensive research was conducted on strategies and interventions to coach people in optimising their physical activity behavior.
In 2024, Bart was appointed as a special professor at VU. In this role, he aims to optimally connect the research perspectives of the university and the university of applied sciences. Bart contributes to practice-oriented research by actively encouraging researchers to participate in Communities of Practice (COPs) and living labs. In these rich learning environments, 'learning' takes place for all involved: students, lecturers, researchers, and healthcare professionals. Since 2018, Bart has been associated with the GRZPLUS living lab, where he contributes to research and innovation in geriatric rehabilitation.
