At the ACIEK conference (Academy of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Knowledge Conference), AUAS researchers Burcu Kör, Adriana Krawczyk and professor of entrepreneurship Ingrid Wakkee received an award for the paper 'addressing food loss and waste prevention'.

Traditionally, the awards of the ACIEK conference are presented at the gala dinner. But due to Covid the conference was virtual so this was not be possible, so the award was also handed out digitally. But the jury noted that this does not detract from achievement which this paper represents. They complemented the Burcu, Adriana and Ingrid on the excellent research performed.

In the paper which is still under revision – written for the British Food Journal – Krawczyk, Kör and Wakkee explore the relationship between the amount of consumer food waste, food loss and the technologies in the Netherlands and India. They examined to what extent and in which ways supporting consumers to minimize food waste can be achieved and how innovation – both advanced technology as well as non-technological mechanisms - can play a role in achieving this goal.
