Europe is facing an increasing number of societal challenges such as migration and inequality. Social entrepreneurship can contribute to solving these challenges by promoting inclusiveness, equal opportunities and civic participation. Therefore, students, as future professionals, must be prepared in social entrepreneurship skills. In order to be able to contribute to solutions for societal challenges, either as social entrepreneurs themselves or as employees on the labour market.

Through ENHANCER, an international consortium consisting of the HvA (principal), Center for Social Innovation (Cyprus), FH Münster (Germany), Questomatica (Netherlands), University of Aveiro (Portugal), and University of Zaragoza (Spain) is developing a digital educational escaperoom (DEER) with which teachers can support students in acquiring social entrepreneurship skills. DEERs are a relatively new gamification method that are suitable for preparing students to acquire transversal skills.

The objectives of ENHANCER are:

1. To determine the vital social entrepreneurship skills by researching and making a representative survey of social entrepreneurship characteristics,

2. To develop an innovative digital (online education) pedagogical and didactic model, proposals and practical guidelines for the use of DEERs,

3. Create a DEER for social entrepreneurship education,

4. Create a toolkit for teachers to enable them to incorporate the developed DEER in their curricula.

ENHANCER is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The project runs from March 2022 to February 2025.
