Master Fashion Enterprise Creation is being phased out

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) has decided to no longer offer the AMFI Master Fashion Enterprise Creation as of 1 September 2020. This means that the degree programme is no longer accepting new students.

The Master’s programme Fashion Enterprise Creation connects entrepreneurship to the world of fashion. During the two-year fulltime Master’s programme students start up a company within the fashion industry. Starting up a company in combination with a fulltime master is highly demanding. running a successful enterprise in the fashion industry is only for the happy few. For that reason this Master’s programme has maintained an extremely strict selection procedure at the start.

The AUAS regularly reviews its portfolio. As a result entrepreneurship has now been positioned in a broader perspective. For example in the Entrepreneurship programme or the Master’s programme Digital Driven Business. Viewed in this light, maintaining a highly-specialist master in a niche market is no longer viable.

In light of the future labour market AMFI is currently working on a reorganisation and flexibilisation of the various specialisations within the fulltime bachelor. Subsequently an assessment shall be made how the labour market and the degree programme can be best matched at post-UAS-education level. Whether that will take shape in a master degree or shorter modules, courses or master classes remains to be seen.

The current students will be able to complete their degree programme. They must do this before 31 August 2023 at the latest. After this date it will no longer be possible to obtain a degree of this title, as from that moment on the degree programme will no longer be registered in the Central Register Degree Programmes Higher Education in the Netherlands (CROHO).
