Margriet Pol is associate lecturer Technology and Participation attached to the Occupational Therapy-Participation and Environment Professorship. She also works as University of Applied Sciences Senior Lecturer in Research in the Occupational Therapy programme. She teaches within the Care Technology minor and the graduate programme of Occupational Therapy. She also supervises students of the European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy with their graduation thesis.
As associate lecturer, Margriet has substantive and organisational responsibility for the research line Technology and Participation. This line focuses on rehabilitation, eHealth and technology. Here, the focus is on supporting and enabling daily activities in one's own environment and participation in social life.
Previously, Margriet worked as an occupational therapist at various healthcare organisations. In 2015, she completed her master's degree in Social Sciences at the Free University of Amsterdam, specialising in social gerontology. In 2019, she obtained her PhD with research on the application of sensor technology in the daily functioning of elderly people living independently.
In addition to the AUAS, Margriet works as a senior researcher at the UNO Amsterdam (University Network Elderly care of the AmsterdamUMC (location VUmc). Researchers and care professionals connect scientific knowledge with daily practice in the 24 affiliated care organisations.
Margriet works as a science practitioner at Vivium Naarderheem where she contributes to research and innovation in geriatric rehabilitation with a focus on the use of eHealth. In addition, Margriet is involved in research and educational projects within the living lab GRZ-plus.
