Dr. Julie Beardsell joined the Amsterdam School of International Business (AMSIB) as Director Operations in December 2018. She is British and Dutch and is fluent in both languages.

Dr. Beardsell is experienced in leadership, team creation, consultancy and service delivery management in education, research and IT, with a unique mix of practical business and academic experience on international level, combining the best of both worlds and both networks.

Career profile

Before joining the Amsterdam School of International Business, Dr. Beardsell led a program to set up IT innovation initiatives at TU Delft, in collaboration with other technical universities and partners, in strategic areas such as open science, research data management and a real-time streamed data platform for The Green village, which hosts sustainability projects in engineering sciences. She was also member of the Supervisory Board of Directors of Zaan Primair, responsible for 28 primary schools in the Zaanstad.

Prior to this (2010 - 2015), she was founding member of the Academic Board, Dean and Professor of Digital Strategy at Monarch Business School Switzerland.

Dr. Beardsell also has an 18 year track record in business focused IT roles. She was Global Business Director at CGI (2008 – 2016), responsible for global product portfolio, transition programs and was member of the supervisory board of the Global Innovation Council. Prior to that (1998 – 2008) she was Global Information Manager at Atos and carried out international consulting programs for ING Bank based in Amsterdam.

Before moving to The Netherlands from the UK in 1997, Dr. Beardsell was teacher and head of department at a secondary, girl’s school in Salisbury, after starting her career in marketing functions based in London.

Academic profile

Dr. Beardsell holds a PhD in Business Research from Monarch Business School Switzerland, a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Swiss Management Center University, a Masters Business Research Degree (MPhil) from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, plus professional qualifications in Education, Marketing and ICT.
