M. Mennes (Matthijs)
Programme managementMatthijs Mennes is - together with Katelijne Boerma - responsible for the programme management of the bachelor programmes Sportkunde - leerroute Sport, Management & Ondernemen (SM&O) and the international track Sport Studies – International Sports Management & Business (ISMB). Matthijs Mennes studied Commercial Economy in Alkmaar and Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam.
His professional roots are in the fitness industry as general manager of several fitnessclubs and -chains and later as marketing consultant for an international firm. He is now board member of the Vereniging Exclusieve Sportcentra.
Looking at sports, Mennes is a passionate amateur cyclist nowadays, but has had an important share in the successes of the Double V Latin Formation Team from 1994 until 2011 as a dancer, head coach and club president. In 2020 Mennes developed, in cooperation with SportsInq and the Sports Leadership Institute, the Sports Leadership Programme, a parttime leadership programme for experienced leaders in sports and topcoaches.
