Ms F.A. van Nes (Fenna) PhD
Head of Research bachelor Occupational TherapyFenna van Nes is working as a senior lecturer and senior researcher at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Health, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
She graduated as an occupational therapist (BSc OT) at the Occupational Therapy School for Higher Education in Huizen (1979), and as a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (2004), and has been working for more than 20 years as occupational therapist with older people in nursing homes and the community.
Her expertise is in the area of older people, with specific interest in the influence of the social environment on occupational performance. Her PhD thesis (2013) is entitled: Everyday activities of ageing couples: changes in the face of health decline. Current projects are the implementation of the group programme for older adults Gezond Actief Ouder Worden (GAOW), and the development of a Participatory Action Research project Amsterdam Age-Friendly City.
As member of the Research Group Occupational Therapy of ACHIEVE, she collaborates nationally and internationally with researchers in the field of ageing research. She advises on the implementation of research in the Bachelor curriculum.
Fenna van Nes is teaching qualitative methods in the Amsterdam module of the European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and coordinates the Master’s thesis module. She supervises Master thesis students and PhD students.
