Dr Raôul R.D. Oudejans is a human movement scientist and has worked at VU Amsterdam since 1991, where he was promoted to university senior lecturer in 2011. In 1996 he obtained his doctorate on research into the role of visual control in catching fly balls in baseball; his thesis was titled The Optics and Actions of Catching Fly Balls. More recently, Raôul's research has centred on visual control in basketball shots and training and performance under pressure. He is also professor by special appointment of Sport and Performance Psychology at the AUAS.

Raôul has more than 75 international publications to his name, alongside eight book chapters and six books, including a sports psychology textbook (Sportpsychologie; Bakker & Oudejans, 2012, Nieuwegein: Arko Sports Media). Over the last few years he has supervised nine PhDs to successful completion. Raôul is also on the editorial board of two international scientific journals: Psychology of Sport and Exercise (PSE) and International Journal of Sport Science and Coaching (IJSSC).
