Gwen Parry is research manager at the Fashion Research and Technology (FR&T) research group, affiliated to the Amsterdam Fashion Institute within the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industry. Here, she works with professor Troy Nachtigall on the FR&T group's scientific and artistic research programme into the many aspects of fashion.

Trained as a political scientist and art historian (Vrije Universiteit) and with a master's degree in art and cultural policy (Utrecht University), she is interested in the influence of power dynamics on artistic and creative expressions, in particular how class, gender (identities) and climate activism relate to the broader visual cultures within which they operate. At the Fashion Research and Technology research group, she focuses on developing and realising research into the ways in which data makes new, future-proof ways of making and wearing imaginable and possible.

She has a background as an editor and manager of art research and publications and worked at the Stedelijk Museum (2018-2023), the Rijksmuseum (2014-2017) and BAK, basis voor actuele kunst (2011-2014). Within these roles, she held, among others, the role of Associate Editor of the peer-reviewed journal The Rijksmuseum Bulletin and, as Senior Editor of the peer-reviewed journal Stedelijk Studies, she built the journal, together with Charl Landvreugd, into the topical online research platform www.stedelijkstudies.com.
