Ms M. Pol (Margriet) PhD
Lecturer in Occupational Therapy | Senior researcherMargriet C Pol is lecturer and junior researcher at the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Applied Sciences (the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, HvA) in the Netherlands.
She graduated as an occupational therapist (BSc OT) at the Occupational Therapy School for Higher Education in Amsterdam (1984), and also as a Master of Science in Social Sciences, focusing on social gerontology at VU University Amsterdam (2005).
After graduating Occupational therapy she has been working as an occupational therapist in different health care centers. In 2006 she started working as a lecturer. Her teaching is based on many years of experience in geriatric rehabilitation and primary health care.
From 2007 until 2010 she worked as a team manager at the Hogeschool Amsterdam and since 2010 she became a member of the Research Group of Allied Health Care Hogeschool Amsterdam: Participation and Environment.
She is lecturer and coordinator of the post graduate course on housing (www.wonen-op-maat.com ) and since 2012 lecturer in the new minor degree program in Health Care Technology.
Her expertise is in the area of geriatric rehabilitation, self-care (ADL and IADL), housing, environment, cognitive functioning, primary health care and telemedicine. She is especially interested in the numerous opportunities for the ageing population to stay active and participate in society.
PhD project: Sensor activity monitoring: a new method of measuring and supporting the performance of activities of daily living for independently living older persons. Through this research she aims to contribute new ideas that will enable older people to remain in their homes as long as possible.
