Professor of Management of Culture Change

Alex Straathof is a Professor of Management of Culture Change. The Research Group carries out research and advises on cultural change in organisations. The emphasis of the Research Group is on conducting research projects within the framework of metropolitan issues.

Alex studied psychology at Leiden University and works as an independent consultant on cultural change. He is the former director of VOF Bouwen aan Integriteit (Building on Integrity) and managing partner of ‘Gelukkig aan de Maas’ management consultancy. As a project manager he was involved in the integrity development and cultural change in the construction industry in response to irregularities in that industry (2002-2003). In the following years, he turned his attention to the functioning of social housing organisations.

In 2009, Alex obtained his doctorate at Erasmus University in Rotterdam with a thesis on a method for identifying organisational cultures and measuring cultural change. He is responsible for the Academic Course in Health Care Management at Erasmus University and for the cultural diagnosis and cultural change components at the Twente School of Management.
