Pieter Verhoogt works for the bachelor programme Sport Studies as a part time lecturer in Sports Economics and Economics of Sports. His core business is sport economic research and consultancy.

In 2004, after 10 years of economic policy consulting at KPMG, Pieter founded Sport2B, a sport economics research and consultancy firm. With Sport2B he has carried out and managed hundreds of research of consultancy projects in and around the world of sports. For Sport Federations, governments (national, regional, local), companies and major events. The projects ranged from elite sport policy to economic impact studies, from UEFA to small municipalities and from professional football to the World Championships Life Saving.

Pieter regularly publish articles on the American sports market. He studied Economics & Business Administration at the VU university in Amsterdam and also attended San Diego State University (USA) for a year. He lived in Germany for 3.5 years and played 8 years of semi-professional baseball in the highest Dutch league. He won the national title once and played in European Tournaments. When he was 20, he skated a 200 km race in Austria.
