Mr. Jan Zonneveld joined the Amsterdam School of International Business as a lecturer (Management & Organisation, Marketing) in 2011. He has considerable international experience in business start-ups, change management and strategic management. In 2013 he led the programme of Trade Management Asia successfully towards accreditation, and became a member of the Management Team of AMSIB.

Mr. Zonneveld believes that the Amsterdam School of International Business with its deep connections to the international business world, provides Amsterdam with a leading business school. The strengths of AMSIB can be found in a carefully designed new curriculum, in which scientific knowledge is taught by informed and inspiring lecturers. Students are encouraged by these lecturers to apply knowledge from the classroom to the context of real life situations. This pragmatic approach challenges their curiosity, motivates them to persevere in difficult circumstances, and coaches them to work with an understanding and respect for cultural differences.

Business profile

Before joining the Amsterdam School of International Business, Mr. Zonneveld was a Director of Sales and Bank Assurance at ING Retail Nederland. He also worked as a Programme Director at ING Wholesale Central Europe, Commercial Director at ING E-Business Center, Director of Flexible Salesforces at ING Bank, and Manager of Marketing & Sales at ING Insurance Asia/Pacific. His extensive experience has brought him to countries such as The Philippines, Indonesia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia and the United Kingdom. He started his career preparing negotiations for collective labour agreements at the Scheepvaartvereniging Zuid (SVZ) in the port of Rotterdam.

Educational profile

Mr. Zonneveld has an MSc in Political Sciences and Government Administration from the University of Leiden and an MA in Marketing from the University of Tilburg. His wrote his master thesis on the financial decision making of Dutch cabinets (Lubbers) in the eighties. He is fluent in Dutch and English, and has a good understanding of German, French and Bahasa Indonesia.

Outside work

Mr. Zonneveld is married with two daughters. He has ran 18 marathons, does long track ice-skating (also the Elfstedentocht), sailing, plays golf, is a rugby referee and plays the accordion.
