Responsible Applied Artificial InTelligence

How can we develop artificial intelligence that is not only smart and efficient, but does also justice to ethical and societal values? Within this project, researchers, students and practice partners are working together to create responsible AI applications.

By combining technology with social engagement and collaboration with various sectors, we ensure that AI not only solves problems, but also makes the world a better place. To this end, the Responsible Applied Artificial InTelligence program (RAAIT for short) was started, in which the AUAS is working on responsible AI solutions together with the universities of applied sciences in Utrecht and Rotterdam, and various partners.

Our project takes a multidisciplinary approach to developing responsible AI applications. We combine design and co-creation methods, integrating ethical and societal values into the design process, with programming methods that focus on the responsible application of AI techniques. We also pay attention to implementation and user acceptance to ensure that the AI solutions developed are effectively and ethically applied in practice.

ā€œBy applying AI responsibly, we aim to positively impact individuals, society and the planet.ā€

Ā

There is a strong connection to education; students from all of our universities of applied sciences are actively involved in the project. They are working with researchers and practice partners to develop responsible AI solutions, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to innovative applications.

Results

The project aims to develop practical AI applications that are ethical and directly applicable in sectors such as retail, business services and media. In addition, we aim to develop a methodology for Responsible Applied AI to guide future projects and implementations.
