Jan-Willem van der Roest
Professor Sport Management & Sport Business
Jan-Willem van der Roest is a professor of Sport Management & Sport Business at the AUAS. He conducts research into the way in which sports organisations deal with social developments in the field of business management, sporting performance and the well-being of people and planet.

Bartel Berkhout
Lecturer-researcher
Bartel Berkhout is conducting PhD research at Nyenrode Business University, in collaboration with the AUAS. He is developing and validating the Sport Leadership Competency Instrument (SLCI). He is also investigating how leadership competencies influence governance and management in professional sport, with a focus on professional football. In addition, he is a lecturer in Sport & Politics at the AUAS.

Martin Breedijk
Lecturer-researcher
Martin Breedijk is a researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group and a graduation supervisor for the Bachelor's programme Sport Studies. He conducts research in projects such as FLAIR and SpotOn.

Jora Broerse
Senior lecturer
Jora Broerse is a senior researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. Her focus is on the professionalisation of sport and exercise organisations, especially sport clubs. Jora Broerse also works at the AUAS as a lecturer and graduation supervisor in the Sport Management cluster.

Beth Clarkson
Lecturer-researcher
Beth Clarkson works at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group and as a visiting professor at the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. Her research focuses on off-pitch leadership in the UK and the governance of top-level women’s football in the Netherlands. She also supervises research projects within the Master Sport Business & Leadership at the AUAS.

Ineke Deelen
Researcher
Ineke Deelen is a senior researcher at the Sport Management and Sport Business research group. She focuses on the ‘Beweeg de Toekomst’ living lab, which aims to strengthen participation and leadership among young people in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, including through sport. She also teaches the ‘Consultancy Skills’ module in the Sport Management cluster at AUAS and supervises final-year students.

Guus Heijnen
Lecturer-researcher
Guus Heijnen works as a lecturer-researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. He conducts research into making the sport world more sustainable. He also teaches sport management and ethics at the AUAS within the Sport Management cluster. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Economics (AUAS) and a Master's degree in Philosophy (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam).

Paul Huiszoon
Senior researcher
Paul Huiszoon is a senior researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. His research focuses on leadership in elite sport and the mental wellbeing of coaches and other decision-makers. He also studies consumer behaviour in sport and events. He obtained his PhD in sports science from the University of Lyon. He is currently completing a supplementary Bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Potsdam.

Harriet Krekel
Project manager
Harriet Krekel works at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group as project manager of Blue Shift, a research and innovation project of the ZonMw programme MOOI in Beweging. The project involves collaboration between sport, science, media, government and business. They are investigating how top-level sport can become more visible and reach more people. They are also looking at how top-level sport contributes to connection, inspiration and impact.

Audrey Kusters
Lecturer-researcher
Audrey Kusters works as a researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. She conducts research into the social impact of sport events and (social) organisations in sport. She also teaches on the Bachelor's programme Sport Studies. Audrey obtained a Bachelor's degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics from the University of Amsterdam and a Master's degree in Public Administration from VU Amsterdam.

Janneke de Noord
Head of Operations and lecturer
Janneke de Noord is Head of Operations at SportHub Netherlands, a partnership with public and private partners that connects knowledge, policy and practice to use sport as a driver for a stronger, healthier and more connected society. She also works at the AUAS as a lecturer in the bachelor's programmes in the Sport Management cluster.

Peter van Paassen is a researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. He also works as a lecturer for the Sport Management cluster of the AUAS.

Claire Powell
Lecturer-researcher
Claire Powell is a researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. She conducts research into the success factors behind a sustainable business model for a professional women's football club. She is also a member of the management team of the Sport Management cluster at the AUAS and programme leader and lecturer for the Master Sport Business & Leadership.

Pieter Verhoogt
Lecturer-researcher
Pieter Verhoogt works as a researcher at the Sport Management & Sport Business research group. He also teaches Sports Economics and Economics of Sport at the Bachelor's programme Sport Studies. In 2004, Pieter founded Sport2B (Sport, Business & Policy) to focus full-time on research and consultancy assignments in the national and international sport world.
