Christianne de Poot specialises in conducting research in the field of investigative practice.

In 1996, she obtained her doctorate from VU University Amsterdam with a thesis on leading questions in interrogation situations. Since then, she has conducted and supervised empirical research into investigative processes, investigative methods and criminality phenomena, first at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR), since 2004 at the Research and Documentation Centre (WODC) of the Ministry of Justice, and since 2010 as a professor of Forensic Science at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and the Police Academy.

In addition to her professorial position, Christianne is also a senior researcher at the WODC and a professor of Forensic Pathology at VU University Amsterdam.
