Improving the Damage Tolerance of Composite Sandwich Structures by Use of AP-PLY

AP-PLY is a novel fiber architecture that combines the improved damage tolerance properties of a woven fabric with the advantages of a unidirectional laminate.

This article showns that an AP-PLY sandwich panel has a 10% greater residual compressive strength compared to a sandwich panel with quasi-isotropic facesheets.
