The development of research competences is seen as crucial for preparing future professionals for practice. This has prompted universities of applied sciences to integrate research into their curricula. But while the ambition is generally embraced, little is known about the characteristics of integrated curricula, or efficient processes to design such curricula. This theme focuses on the rationale behind, the design process and the effects of curricula in which research and professional conduct are integrated.
