Selection procedure
The selection procedure for the Master Sport Business & Leadership ensures that motivated candidates with the right background are admitted. On this page, you will find the steps, deadlines, and criteria used to assess your application.
Application procedure and timeline
Step 1 – Check admission requirements
Read the admission requirements carefully.
Step 2 – Register
Register via Studielink before 18 June 2026. You will receive a confirmation email.
- Applicants in the Netherlands: A DigiD is required
- Applicants outside the Netherlands: Apply without a DigiD (see Studielink website for further instructions(opens in new window))
Step 3 – Upload portfolio
After registering, you will get upload instructions by email. Upload your application portfolio between 1 April and 25 June 2026. Your portfolio must include:
- Diploma or expected graduation statement
- CV (with sport industry experience)
- Two recommendation letters
- Course list + short explanation (max. 300 words)
- Thesis summary (max. 250 words)
- 1-minute motivation video
- 1-page consulting proposal (2 organisations + explanation)
- Proof of English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, C1 level)

Step 4 – Assessment
26–27 June 2026: We assess your portfolio based on formal and additional criteria.
- Formal criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in Sport Studies / Sport Management / Sport Business / Sport Marketing
- C1-level English
- Additional criteria
- Relevant Dutch and international sport industry experience and network.
- Evident leadership potential and motivation for a career in sport business.
Step 5 – Results
By 2 July 2026 you will receive the results via email:
- a) Direct admission
- b) Provisional admission (pending diploma or English certificate)
- c) Waiting list
- d) Rejection
