Poverty Interventions

Helping to end poverty in the Netherlands

A large group of Dutch people live around the poverty line and/or have problematic debts. The research group Poverty Interventions aims to contribute to the reduction and prevention of poverty and debt among citizens. Based on scientific insights, we support social organizations and governments in designing and implementing effective solutions to poverty and debt problems.

Meet our professor

Anna Louise Custers

Professor of Poverty Interventions

Anna's work focuses on gaining a better understanding of poverty and debt issues in all their various forms. Together with her research group, Anna investigates which types of interventions in the field of poverty are effective and which are not, and for which citizens. In addition to being a lecturer, Anna is also programme leader for Poverty and Livelihood Security at the Centre of Expertise Urban Education.
