Language and Preparatory Programme privacy statement

To facilitate your enrolment in the Language and Preparatory Programme, we gather and process several items of data. This is done in conformity with the General Data Protection Regulation and AUAS guidelines.

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) Student Affairs respects your privacy and will handle your personal data with care, acting in conformity with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Language and Preparatory Programme has been set up to train students for the Dutch as a Second Language (NT2) level II state examination and to help prospective students who do not speak Dutch prepare for their studies. To facilitate your enrolment, we gather and process several items of data. This is done in conformity with the General Data Protection Regulation and AUAS guidelines. Which data are gathered?

We ask that you upload the following documents, if applicable for your application:

  • motivation letter;
  • copy of your valid residence permit;
  • copy of your secondary school diploma (list of marks + translation);
  • copy of your university degree certificate (list of marks + translation);
  • copy of your Dutch language course/NT2 level I or II state examination diploma/certificate;
  • copy of proof that you are registered with the UAF Foundation for Refugee Students;
  • copy of proof that you are entitled to a DUO loan;
  • For International Preparatory Year applicants: copy of your mentor's letter of recommendation and list of marks.

In addition to the aforementioned data, we also ask for your name, address, telephone number and email address.

Why do we gather these data?

We require these data so that we can establish that your prior education matches the level required and that the Language and Preparatory Programme is right for you before we enrol you as a course participant.

Where are these data stored?

We store these data in the AUAS Student Information System (SIS) and in the Student Affairs admin system.

Who has access to these data?

The data can be accessed by administrative support staff and teaching staff working for the Language and Preparatory Programme and certain systems administrators working for the AUAS Administration Centre (for technical maintenance purposes).

For how long will the data be stored?

Personal data will not be stored for longer than strictly necessary. Your data will be destroyed two years after your graduation or five years after the termination of your enrolment. This is in conformity with new guidelines contained in the selection list of the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences.

Legal basis for processing data

Data are processed on behalf of the Language and Preparatory Programme to enable us to perform a contract that you are a party to, i.e. your course contract.

Sharing personal data

If you have signed a supervision agreement with the UAF for the purpose of studying the Language and Preparatory Programme, we will share some of your data with the UAF. These are your date of birth, name, address, town/city of residence, telephone number and email address. We do this to be able to discuss your progress.
