Selection
Due to the high number of applicants, AMFI has a limited number of places available for the Fashion & Textile Technologies programme—440 spots in total. This means a selection procedure is in place. Enrolment deadline: 15 January 2026!
Selection Process for the Academic Year 2026–2027
Before applying to the AMFI Fashion & Textile Technologies programme, you must choose your graduation specialisation. AMFI offers three: Fashion & Management; Fashion & Branding and Fashion & Design.
Important:
Fashion & Design is the most challenging and costly specialisation. To apply for this specialisation you must already have:
- Basic sewing skills
- Experience in creating your own garments
- A strong, personal sense of style
If you do not meet these criteria, you will be at a significant disadvantage when applying for Fashion & Design.
Open Day
We highly recommend attending an Open Day (online or in-person) to get a clearer idea of AMFI and its specialisations.
How to Apply
- You can apply via Studielink between until 15 January 2026.
- Within a week of registration, you’ll receive a welcome email from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS).
- You’ll then receive instructions about the assignment.
- The assignment must be submitted within two weeks of registering in Studielink—your personal deadline will be included in the confirmation email.
Don’t Forget: Two-Part Admission Process
Part 1 – General Admission RequirementsYou must meet the admission criteria for AUAS. This is separate from the selection process for AMFI.
Part 2 – AMFI Selection Process
You must complete all required selection materials.
Only after completing both parts can you start the programme.
The AMFI Selection Process
You will be required to submit three components:
- A document (5–10 pages) containing your assignment:
- The assignment is different for Management, Branding & Design
- You are only allowed to do one assignment and choose one graduation specialisation
- A video in which you answer the questions we wrote for you.
- A completed online form.
You must submit these before your personal deadline (approx. 2 weeks after registration in Studielink). Your exact deadline will be shared with you by email.
Preparation Tips
- Choose your graduation specialisation in advance and check that you meet the necessary requirements (see earlier section).
- Set aside time to complete your assignment; no extensions are given.
- Keep a close eye on your email during the selection period.
- Review the general AUAS admission requirements.
AMFI Selection Criteria
We assess candidates based on the following:
- Preparedness for the programme
- Understanding of AMFI’s curriculum and future career options
- Interest in the fashion industry as a whole
- Engagement with cultural and social issues
- Creativity, originality, and attention to detail
- Clear and committed motivation (spoken and/or written)
- Visual literacy (demonstrated in your video or images)
- Ability to self-reflect
Selection Result & Ranking Number
Once your assignment has been reviewed, and if applicable, after your interview, you will receive a ranking number through Studielink on 15 April 2026.
How the ranking works:
- All applicants who complete the selection process will be scored.
- A ranked list will be created based on these scores.
- Your specialisation and programme choice (Dutch or International) do not affect your ranking.
Applicants ranked 1 to 440 will be offered a place at AMFI. You’ll have two weeks to accept your offer in Studielink. If someone declines their offer, it will automatically move to the next person on the list. Every two weeks, we will update the highest ranking number that has been offered a place.
Note: Emails from AUAS can end up in your spam folder. You should therefore check your spam folder regularly.
