Selection
In view of the large number of prospective students, AMFI has an enrolment quota: there are a limited number of places in the degree programme (425).
Selection process academic year 2026-2027
You can apply for the programme in Studielink between 1 October 2025 and 15 January 2026. You will receive a welcome e-mail from AUAS within 48 hours of registration. Following your registration request, you will receive more information about the content of the assignment. Within two weeks of your registration in Studielink, you must hand in the assignment. If any questions remain after reviewing your assignment, you may be invited for an online interview between 15-01-2026 and 15-03-2026. If you are invited for an interview, you will receive more information from the AMFI Student Desk.
Chance of placement
AMFI has capacity for 425 students for the 2025-2026 academic year. Rank numbers will be distributed on 15 April. Participants with numbers 1 to 425 will be offered a place directly on 15 April, which they must accept within two weeks. If you have been given a number higher than 425, you will naturally want to know whether there is a chance you will be offered a place, and if so, when. If your number is slightly higher than 425, this could happen quite soon after 15 April. If you have been given a higher number, you will have to wait a little longer. On this page, we will show an update of which rank number has been called. We will update every two weeks. That way you can estimate what your chances are of being called between 1 May and 15 August (the date AUAS offers its final places). So, check this page regularly, even in the summer, but especially after the results of the HAVO/VWO final exams have been announced. This will be the end of June at the latest. This is the time when candidates who have already accepted their places have to return them because they have unfortunately failed their exams.
On the following date | a place is offered to number: |
April 29 | 437 |
May 12 | 504 |
May 26 | 517 |
June 9 | 526 |
June 23 | 549 |
The Process
Part 1
First of all, you need to meet the AUAS and AMFI admission requirements (https://www.amsterdamuas.com/programmes/amfi-amsterdam-fashion-institute-en/admission). These are the requirements related to your previous education and choice of profile. International students must also be able to demonstrate proficiency in English.
Part 2
After you have registered in Studielink and received the confirmation email, you have two weeks to take the following steps:
- Choose your specialisation.
Fashion & Branding, Fashion & Design or Fashion & Management. You cannot change this later, so make sure you make a careful decision.
- Submit your essay.
- Submit your introductory video.
- Complete a questionnaire on your previous education.
You don’t need to submit a portfolio. However, if you choose to specialise in Design we expect you to be able to demonstrate that you have already produced garments and sketches before your application process, as well as that you have your own style.
The Assignment
- a 5-to-10-page document, supporting your choice of preferred specialization (Management, Branding, or Design). You will receive more information after you have made an application.
- a personal motivation video
- an online form
We advise you to attend an open day, online or in person, to get a better impression of AMFI.
Preparation for the selection process
You will receive more information once you have applied for the programme in Studielink.

Selection result and ranking number
Once you have submitted your essay, your work will be assessed. Sometimes we will ask you to participate in an online interview if we are not yet sure whether you are a good fit for the AMFI programme. Everyone who goes through the entire process will receive a ranking number via Studielink on 15 April.
Your ranking number depends on the score you are given during the selection procedure. Whether you are awarded a place at AMFI depends on the number of places available and how many students enter the selection procedure. If your ranking number is lower than the number of places available, you will receive proof of admission via Studielink. You must accept within two weeks to secure your place.
Please note that in addition to AMFI’s selection procedure, you must also meet the general AUAS admission requirements. Keep an eye on your messages for admission updates!
Note: Emails from AUAS can end up in your spam folder. You should therefore check your spam folder regularly.
