Profile Creative Technologist

Profile Creative Technologist

A Creative Technologist combines technical expertise with creative design to develop human-centered and interactive solutions that meet user needs. Using design techniques such as Research Through Design and Design Thinking, a Creative Technologist ensures an iterative process in which products are continuously improved and adapted to user requirements and societal contexts. Prototyping plays a crucial role in this process, allowing ideas to become tangible quickly and serve as a research tool.

Learning outcomes Creative Technologist

Analysis

The student iteratively and methodically analyzes [self-developed prototypes, user needs, interaction designs, experiments, emerging technologies, societal trends, tools, software and/or hardware] to develop creative technical solutions or improvements that align with the target audience and project goals of the client. The student maintains an investigative attitude and uses relevant recognized standards or consciously deviates from them.

Advice

The student provides advice on creative technical solutions in relation to user needs and project objectives, based on insights gained from analysis, design, or implementation. The student provides well-substantiated advice in a convincing manner. The (societal) impact of choices in the advice is explicitly stated. The student uses communication methods appropriate for the target audience.

Design

The student designs a creative technical solution using various prototyping techniques in coordination with stakeholders. The student conducts making-research in short design cycles to validate ideas. The design considers the (ethical) implications for stakeholders, emphasizing privacy, security, sustainability, and inclusion.

  1. Implement

The student implements and/or integrates the creative technical solution based on the design. The student uses and/or connects appropriate tools and technology for implementation. The implementation meets or questions industry standards and best practices. The student tests the implemented solution with qualitative research among the target audience.

Management & Control

The student manages and monitors the iterative development process using detailed and transparent process documentation. The student seeks suitable tools and forms for this purpose. The student collaborates constructively and communicates proactively with stakeholders to manage the development and/or management process and ensure its quality. The student takes responsibility for their 'own contribution' in the collaboration and the final result.

Personal Leadership

The student demonstrates initiative by recognizing opportunities, taking proactive action, and involving collaboration partners and stakeholders. The student inspires others by sharing knowledge and insights. The student directs their own learning process, can argue their choices, and reflects on their development. The student actively seeks feedback from multiple sources.
