Why choose ESP?

At the European School of Physiotherapy (ESP) you study in an international, hands-on and supportive environment. With personal guidance, expert teachers and special projects, ESP prepares you for a global career in physiotherapy.

Instruction method

The ESP instruction method follows the Confluent Learning Philosophy. This means:

  • You learn in an open and supportive setting.
  • Teachers are lecturers, coaches, clinical supervisors and guides.
  • Staff and students work closely together: ESP feels like one community.
  • You learn through lectures, practicals, self-study, projects, e-learning, labs, clinical sessions, discussions and internships.
  • You meet patients from the start until graduation.
  • The curriculum is coherent, flexible and up to date.

Mentor

When you start in Amsterdam, you get a mentor. The mentor helps you with career planning, personal issues and study challenges. Together you set goals and review your results. The mentor is also your link with the school and represents you in meetings about results and grades.

Teaching staff

ESP staff cover all areas of physiotherapy. You learn from medical specialists, psychologists, movement scientists, exercise physiologists and physiotherapists. They combine teaching with practice and bring wide experience to the classroom.

ESP has a long tradition in international projects. Many lecturers have worked around the world and know what physiotherapy practice is like in different countries and cultures.

Special projects

ESP also organises social and special projects, such as:

  • Snow week
  • Introduction week
  • Meet & greets
  • Guest lectures

You also do community work in Amsterdam, for example with older people or local sport clubs. Some students do voluntary work abroad. These projects are part of the ESP experience, next to your regular courses.

Programme of excellence

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences recognises ESP as an official honours programme. This status reflects the high quality of the programme, staff and students.
